Dear Parents and OIC Staff,
In recent days you have undoubtedly read or heard news accounts about the 2023 OIC Spring Break
HBCU College Tour with the Montgomery County OIC. We want to let you know that we are as
disappointed, or more, as many of you are with the news reports.
Montgomery County OIC has successfully hosted its annual Spring Break HBCU College Tour for high
school students seeking higher education upon graduation for more than a decade. This tour provides
exposure to historically black colleges and universities in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina,
South Carolina and Georgia. Many students in the past have concluded our tour with
scholarships and acceptance to the schools visited.
The board is actively working to understand where and why the OIC may have not met expectations,
and how we can best correct going forward. We thank you for your patience as we proceed.
We look forward to meeting with Parents to discuss soon.
We want to sincerely thank you for your support, past and present. The OIC has enjoyed serving the
community in the past, and we look continuing as we move forward.
