Norristown, PA – For the 6th consecutive week, Montgomery County OIC will distribute free meals and produce to the community on Wednesday, April 15th at 4:30 PM until supplies last. “OIC has served the community for over 50 years,” said Denise Ashe, CEO of the nonprofit located at 1101 Arch Street in Norristown. “While we can’t offer in person services, we are finding innovative ways to continue to serve the community.”

Since the announcement of the Governor’s order to stay at home and close all non-essential businesses, OIC quickly sprung into action to become a temporary distributer of donated produce and meals. Since the closure, OIC has received donations of goods from Norristown Area School District, Central Montco Technical High School, Greener Partners, Philabundance, Kriebel’s Custom Bakery, and Imperial Catering.

The next distribution will begin at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, April 15th. We have bee fortunate each week to receive enough supplies to serve 200 families per week, but can not guarantee everyone will receive items. Food will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. The address for distribution is 1101 Arch Street, Norristown, PA 19401. Those planning to receive a bag of produce should follow the signs to the Spruce Street side of the building for pickup. We are urging all attendees practice social distancing by doing the following:

  • Wear a mask or cloth covering over your mouth and nose to protect yourself and others
  • If you are using gloves, please follow CDC guidelines on proper use
  • Stay 6 feet apart from the next person in line (cones will be arranged to guide those waiting in line)

Montgomery County OIC is fortunate to have this food distribute continue until the foreseeable future. This program is made possible by support of community businesses and individual donors. If you would like to support this program, you can make a donation through our website.
